Tips for successful deployment of new technology
September 22, 2022Overcoming the hurdles of technology adoption
In an article from 2020 discussing hurdles to technology adoption in small businesses, there were four main points the author addressed.
They are 1: Cost 2: Difficulty deploying 3: Time to research 4: It’s not seen as necessary.
The motorcoach industry has long battled these issues, but the future looks bright. Here’s how.
Cost
There is no denying it, even in a market like today’s, where demand is outstripping supply, the shadow of the COVID years still looms large, making the decision to spend any money more difficult. SalesDriver has been designed not only to be a manageable cost for even the smallest of companies but also to help manage other costs. Companies who use it report that they are able to save sales staff up to half of their day. This means fewer people can handle more quotes as more and more business is automated online. It also reduces training costs. What has historically been a big undertaking with legacy software, getting a new employee up to speed and functionally using SalesDriver is easy. With very little training, even the most novice salesperson can effectively close more of the work you want to land.
Difficulty Deploying
If your prior experience deploying new software for your company has you suffering from implementation paralysis, you are not alone. Historically, deploying new software is challenging, frustrating, and time-consuming. TBN’s solutions are different. In most cases, we can have SalesDriver launched in under five business days with less than 2 hours of work on your team’s part. Our intake process takes less than 20 minutes, and in about an hour of additional time in review and deployment, you can have the most cutting-edge solution deployed for your customers. Training can be done online, and INLINE 24/7/365 as your team finds needs while using it. Our online training portal and our support team are second to none. Deploying new software should be easy. It should simplify your life. We have engineered our processes to do just that from the very first step!
Time to Research
Time is perhaps the most precious commodity in the motorcoach world today. Fewer people are driving more business and wearing more hats than ever before. We built a next-generation online demo that uses videos to show you how the products work for owners, managers, customers, and salespeople. Want to do it at a sales meeting on a Wednesday? How about at 11:00 after dinner? Maybe on a Sunday, sitting by the lake? Now you can.
It’s Not Seen as Necessary
Twenty years ago, I sold charters. I used the same software that is available today, and it was fundamentally the same interface and user experience. It was also 100% the same experience that customers have with our companies today. For reference, that was before iPhones, Uber, meaningful internet consumption, and Amazon. Looking at innovation as necessary or not is tricky… Ask blockbuster in 2000 if innovation was necessary and what they were going to do about an upstart called Netflix, and they may have told you, “we’re not worried.” Ask them again in 2010, and their answer would have been different. Ask taxi companies in 2009 if they thought innovation was necessary as a little company called Uber made its way on the world stage, and many would have told you, “it’s a passing phase… it won’t catch on.” Ask them today if they wish they would have innovated then, and they likely will tell you they do. Uber Charter is now expanding to more states, customers expect instant results like never before when shopping online, and more people worldwide have smartphones than toothbrushes. The need to innovate is real, the time is now, and SalesDriver makes it easy.
There are real hurdles to adopting and deploying new technology. There is a learning curve and an expense. But good technology pays off in more, happier customers, better margins, easier adoption, lower training requirements, and makes what you do easier every day.
If you are ready for better, the time is now.
